What excites me?

Lot’s of things excite me.

Tommy Smith’s winning goal in the 1977 European Cup Final was exciting. But not as exciting as seeing Queen's Live Aid set, in the flesh at Wembley in 1985.

But neither is as exciting as starting your own business. Which is why I did it and it’s why you’ve done it. You had a dream of doing things differently, putting a dent in the universe and being your own boss.

At least that’s what the script says, but things don’t always go to plan.


"I've been where you are and I know how it feels"

In my world, that company that you’ve nursed from just an idea to where it is today, is a big deal.

It's not a hobby. It’s a full time gig. It’s what puts food on the table for your family. It’s what pays for ballet lessons and it’s how you can afford those precious family holidays.

So yeah. In my world, that's a big deal. So let’s start treating it like it’s a big deal.

Treating it likes it’s a big deal means not sitting back and kidding yourself that customers will appear out of thin air. And it means not telling yourself that social media is too big and confusing and you don’t know where to start. Sure it can be a bit overwhelming, but those customers aren’t going to find themselves.

I know how to generate leads using great original content and turn them into paying customers. I've been doing it for 20 years and if I say so myself, I've been pretty successful at it

  • I’ve founded or been on the team that founded three businesses that we sold for over $100m
  • I've started businesses that built 7 and 8-figure customer bases
  • I’ve won business on four continents with some of biggest brands in the world.
  • I’ve secured deals with major names like Goldman Sachs, Virgin, Orange, Saachi and nPower.

I guess what I’m saying is I know about winning sales as a small early stage business, solopreneur, coach or consultant.

I can teach you how to produce and use brilliant original content that attracts customer faster than an umbrella salesman at a wet festival. I don't want anything to stand in the way of ballet shoes.

And when I'm not working

As much as I love what I do, all work and no play would be.....well, a lot of work!

I live in the South West of England with my wife Cate, 16-year old daughter Matilda and a lot of animals. Two dogs, two cats, two horses (a bit like Noah's arc!), three hens and more. Our latest addition is 20,000 bees.

When I am not working or feeding animals I love running and triathlon. Back in 2014 I had the great honour of being selected in my age-group to race for Great Britain in the European Triathlon Championships in Majorca. What a thrill that was.

When I'm not working, feeding animals or running, I am a closet rock fan and air guitar enthusiast. There are times when the only solution is Thin Lizzy, U2 or Oasis on full bore.
