How to get more leads

I’m going to let you in on a secret. Not everyone who starts a business is a great salesmen.

But that’s OK. I couldn’t configure a web server. It’s horses for courses right?

But if you're a tech or creative founder who doesn't feel completely comfortable with sales, you can't ignore the facts. At some point your startup has to win some customers.

If you're pecking around on social media looking for leads, stop! If you're going to networking events and handing out business cards, stop! If you're blasting out email shots with bought lists or avoiding hitting the phones, stop that too! There's a better way.

I'm going to help you put in place exactly the same system that I use to generate a steady stream of B2B sales enquiries every week. I haven't made a cold-call in years.

Imagine logging onto to your email or messaging each morning, and there waiting for you are a handful of warm enquiries. Sounds too good to be true? Well that's exactly what happens to me and I am going to show you how it can happen to you too.

A few years ago I co-founded a SaaS business with my friend Miles Quitmann. We were scratching our heads. How were we going to persuade companies to do business with a startup?

Twelve months later we'd signed up Orange (now EE ), Virgin Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, Hays, Thus (now part of Vodafone), nPower, BUPA and loads more.

We're going to understand exactly what you're selling and exactly who you're selling it to. That will help us work out where to find them. And then the magic dust. Why are they going to buy from you?

How to build your audience?

If you write some great content and nobody reads it, did you write great content? That little philosophical gem will keep you thinking. I'll show to how to build a large engaged audience of exactly the people you want to be talking to. I want you to have an engaged audience of at least 10,000 people in a year.

What are you going to say to them and how are you going to do it?

People don't buy what you're selling them, they buy what you can do for them. In Part 3, you'll learn how to craft messages that sound like poetry and taste like honey. You'll learn how and where to deliver them, and some tricks and tips for turbo-charging each piece of epic original content. 

We'll finish this section with your content strategy done. You'll be good to go with a plan
